Section 8 Homeownership Assistance Program (SHAPE)

MHA’s Homeownership Program (SHAPE) is designed to help families convert their HCV rental assistance payment into mortgage assistance payments. The program helps families to identify qualified mortgage lenders and to access down payment assistance programs. The mortgage subsidy can last for up to 15 years on a 30-year mortgage.  Homeownership subsidy is the same as the rental program with expenses being an additional consideration for homeownership

Families must be enrolled in the HCV Family Self-Sufficiency (FSS) program and meet certain criteria to qualify to participate in the SHAPE program.
